The Rehabilitation Hospital of Southwest Virginia is a 25-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital that offers comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation services designed to return patients to leading active and independent lives.

Our hospital provides a wide range of physical rehabilitation services, a vast network of highly-skilled, independent private practice physicians HealthSouth therapists and nurses, and the most innovative equipment and rehabilitation technology, ensuring that all patients have access to the highest quality care. Designed with our patients’ care in mind, Rehabilitation Hospital of Southwest Virginia offers private rooms with televisions and telephones.  

In addition to caring for general rehabilitation diagnoses such as orthopedic, neurological, cardiac and pulmonary, Rehabilitation Hospital of Southwest Virginia has specialized inpatient programs for stroke, brain injury and trauma

This 22,644-square-foot hospital serves patients throughout east Tennessee and southwest Virginia and is located at 103 North Street in Bristol, Virginia. Click here for a map and contact information on our location. The hospital is a joint venture partnership with Bristol Regional Medical Center, Wellmont.

Rehabilitation is covered in full or part by most health insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. The hospital has contracts with most major insurance companies and is willing to negotiate with other companies as needed.

Committed to a higher level of care, our stroke and spine injury rehabilitation programs have earned Disease-Specific Care Certification from The Joint Commission in addition to Joint Commission accreditation.  This Gold Seal of Approval® is a direct reflection of our commitment to provide comprehensive treatment programs to help patients reach maximum outcomes.

The rehabilitation programs underwent an extensive, on-site evaluation by a team of Joint Commission reviewers and were evaluated against Joint Commission standards. To earn the certification, our hospital successfully demonstrated compliance with national standards and effective use of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines to manage and optimize care for patients recovering from stroke.
